** Microline Co., Ltd. Shinnae Techno-Town 801, Sangbong, Seoul, 131-220, Korea Abstract A ground penetrating radar (GPR) using short-pulse is developed in order to detect small and shallow metal objects buried under the ground. A bistatic mode in which the GPR system uses separate transmitting and receiving antennas is applied. A modified fat dipole antenna is developed for the transmitting and receiving antennas,. The prototype of the system is tested in real environment and 2D visualization of raw data is achieved. It is shown that the developed system has a good ability in detecting underground metal objects, even small targets of several centimeters.

3D Modelling of Under Ground Burried Objects Based on Ground Penetration Radar
There is a growing demand for mapping and 3D modelling of buried objects such as pipelines, agricultural hetitage, landmines and other buried objects. Usually, large scale and high resolution maps from these objects are needed. Manually map generation and modeling of these objects are cost and time consuming and is dependent on lots of resources. Therefore, automating the subsurface mapping and...
متن کاملGround-Penetrating Radar Antenna Modeling
-Detecting subsurface objects by using GroundPenetrating Radar (GPR) has received considerable interest in recent years. In order to interpret radar signals from buried objects, one must have the ability to model a large range of objects, grounds and radar antennas, theoretically or numerically, so that a real GPR system can be simulated. Many investigations have been done for modeling objects ...

متن کاملPossibility of using GPR Radar to localize human bodies under the rubble caused by an earthquake
Ground penetrating Radar (GPR) is an interesting device that can allow a non-destructive auscultation of the underground without any excavation. It is based on the use of high frequency electromagnetic waves, including reflection or diffraction that allows the detection of buried objects. In this work, we studied the possibility of using GPR for detecting of human targets under the rubble cause...
متن کاملRealistic Model of Dispersive Soils Using Plrc-fdtd with Applications to Gpr Systems
Abstract—A realistic model of ground soil is developed for the electromagnetic simulation of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems. A three dimensional Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) algorithm is formulated to model dispersive media using N -term Debye permittivity function with static conductivity. The formulation of the algorithm is based on the concept of the Piecewise Linear Recursiv...
